One vs. the other

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a black man or Hispanic are conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he's in labor and then sues.

On Glenn Beck

I was discussing Glenn Beck with some of my more liberal acquaintances over the weekend and something hit me as funny. Their intellectual hero is Steven Colbert. Now, when the left bashes Glenn and cites Colbert, I tend to write it off.

However, something is wrong here. People who bash Glenn don't even watch him. It has become trendy to pile on and not even know what they are talking about. It seems that those who spent years fighting racism and prejudice are committing it on Glenn Beck. They hate him and don't even know anything about him.

Before you bash him, try reading his books and watching his shows. Write down what Glenn says, independently verify his facts, then make your own decisions.

Freedom is not free

I was thinking to day, how many of us actually know the candidates we are voting for? Do we study thier voting records? Do we study thier press conferences, thier audio clips, thier video clips? Or do we simply vote the party line?

Secret Combinations in our Government

In the Book of Mormon, in the book of Ether, Moroni warns the Gentiles of secret combinations:

Ch. 8 Verses 23-25

Wherefore, O ye Gentiles, it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain-and the work, yea, even the work of destruction come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the Eternal God shall fall upon you, to your overthrow and destruction if ye shall suffer these things to be. Wherefore the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you; or wo be unto it, because of the blood of them who have been slain; for they cry from the dust for vengeance upon it, and also upon those who built it up. For it cometh to pass that whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies; even that same liar who beguiled our first parents, yea, even that same liar who hath caused man to commit murder from the beginning; who hath hardened the hearts of men that they have murdered the prohets, and stoned them, and cast them out from the beginning.

Emphasis added.

Please read on. Believe it or not, people are using secret combinations to take away our freedoms. Please open your eyes and do something about it. I believe that if we see these things and do nothing than we are just as bad as the people who perpetrate these combinations.

Urine or You're out

From an email I got today:

Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem). What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So, here is my Question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their butts doing drugs, while I work.

Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.

Some thing has to change in this country -- and soon!!!!!!!

No God = No Sin = No Guilt

If there is no God, can there be sin? If there is no sin, can there be punishment or guilt?

In terms of morality, it seems that many people lately are denying God because they are trying to escape punishment or guilt. We are all born with an inate knowledge of right and wrong. As we grow up an the world skews our knowledge of right and wrong, we begin to desire the things of the world. At first, we feel guilty about indulging because we know it is wrong, but guilt is a negative emotion.

In order to continue doing things which seem pleasureable, but avoid the negative emotion of guilt, we start to rationalize. "Oh, I'm not hurting anyone". "Everyone is doing it". The rationalization quickly takes over and we begin to be able to tell ourselves whatever we need to in order to not feel the guilt.

Once others become concerned about the behavior and start discussing the inherent reasons why the behavior is inappropriate from a religious stand point, we begin to rationalize that if the only reason this is wrong is because God says it is wrong, I'll deny God. If there is no God, there is no Sin. If there is no Sin, I can go right on doing what I feel like with no consequence... Not even the consequence of guilt, because the light in us (our conscience) has faded and we have successfully killed God and taken away all of the consequences of sin.

I just wonder, how many of you athiests are so caught up in the pleasures of the world that you have killed God in order to alleviate your guilt?

I think the nation is heading for disaster

I think the nation is heading for disaster, based on this exerpt from Samuel Adams:

"It is not high time for the people of this country explicitly to declare, whether they will be freemen or slaves? It is an important question which ought to be decided. It concerns us more than anything in this life. The salvation of our souls is interested in this event. For wherever tyranny is established, immorality of every kind comes in like a torrent. It is in the interest of tyrants to reduce the people to ignorance and vice. For they cannot live in any country where virtue and knowledge prevail. The religion and public liberty of a people are intimately connected; their interest are interwoven, they cannot subsist separately; and therefore they rise and fall together. For this reason, it is always observable, that those who are combined to destroy the people's liberties. practice every art to poison their morals. How greatly then does it concern us, at all events, to put a stop to the progress of tyranny."

- Samuel Adams, October 1772
